The Futility of Weeding

“The stateliest building man can raise is the ivy's food at last.” – Charles Dickens, novelist (1812-1870)

In other words, it’s the goal and destiny of plants to take over the earth.

  3. There's a show called "Life after People" on the History Channel that explores what would happen to the planet if people just disappeared. One of the things they featured was how quickly plants would just take over our buildings and rip them apart!

I don't know. It showed up on A Word A Day, which just gives the author, not the full citation. Would be interesting to know where it comes from specifically.

Many years ago I heard a guy who was an expert on ants. If all the ants disappeared from the earth, it would totally fall apart, biologically, ecologically, etc.. If we disappeared, it would not. In fact, it would probably improve biologically, ecologically, etc. So much for humanity.
